For its launch, artist Isaac Olvera presented a new performance entitled Gruta. The magazine was later distributed for free at the Chopo Museum in Mexico City.

ARTISTS
Stephen Aldahl (1981, Los Angeles, CA, USA) is a painter. He recently presented solo exhibitions with Young Art Gallery in Hollywood and Frankfurt am Main in Berlin.
Enrique Arriaga Celis (México DF, 1982) explores the re-meaning of content from copying and research and activation of files. Also practice, review and disseminate the cross between music/ drawing from an experimental approach through self-management. He currently coordinates the inSite/ Casa Gallina Knowledge platform. He studied Visual Arts at La Esmeralda and has participated in exhibitions in spaces such as Eco, Casa Vecina, Ex Teresa Arte Actual and Museo del Chopo. He was a FONCA fellow in 2012. He has been head of the Documentation Center of the Tamayo Museum and founder of the Fanzinoteca program at the Museo del Chopo.
André Avelãs (1976, Portugal) is a noisy artist making sound out of snails or other strange elements. Avelãs lives and works in Amsterdam, NL.
Javier Barrios (1989, Guadalajara, México) Lives and works in Mexico City. His work is articulated by a series of critical remarks and notes about the coexistence and confrontation between the different power structures and the forms of resistance that are generated in response or as a derivative. He mainly works with drawing, installation and sculpture. He has an editorial project called Ediciones Barrio Boy’z with which he publishes his own work and collaborations with creators in general.
Minia Biabiany (1988, Guadalupe, FWI) lives and works in Mexico. Her installations unfold in spatial diagrams, weaving a question between place, word and the processes of construction of reality linked to colonization and domination today. Her work has been shown in Marseille, Lyon and Paris (Jeune Création 2012 at 104, at the Galerie Doyang Lee) in France, in Mexico city (Crater Invertido, Bikini Wax) and at the TEOR/éTica museum of contemporary art in San José in Costa Rica.
Antonio Bravo Avendaño was born in Mexico City in 1983. He graduated in 2012 from the Visual and Plastic Arts at ENPEG La Esmeralda. He has been a fellow of the Young Creators program of FONCA (2013–2015) as well as the Bancomer-MACG program. He has participated in various group shows at C.D. Juárez Chihuahua, Cancún, Quintana Roo, State of Mexico and Mexico City.

Ani Eloyan was born on July 7, 1988 in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, USSR. Graduated from the Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam in 2010. Eloyan’s works on paper or unstretched canvas are collages that stitch together elements from the world of cartoons, comics and popular culture – media that oversimplify and idealise themes such as sexual identity, class, aesthetics and social acceptance. Her work is at once dark, violent and malevolent and yet tender and compassionate. Her work is represented in a number of collections including that of the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag and AKZO Nobel Nederland.
Olmo Cuña (1983, Vigo, Spain) studies this and that, lives here and there, knows each other, and is interested in this and that.
Sara García (1983, Vigo, Spain) lives and works in Mexico City. Sara studied Fine Arts at the University of Vigo, Spain, and a Master of Arts in Artistic Production at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. His work revolves around what is hidden or what cannot be seen with the naked eye. It is built from the image, still life and rhopography.
Jorge Méndez Blake (1974, Guadalajara, MX). Fusing different historical and geographical elements, his work explores the possible connections between literature and art, inviting new reflections on the role of language in our culture. Recently, he has focused much of his work on the investigation of the idea of library, understood as a fragile and contradictory cultural system.
Born in 1986 in Paris, Dorian Gaudin lives and works in New York. He studied at the ENSAD and ENSBA of Paris and at Le Fresnoy. His work has been shown in various museums and galleries including Clearing gallery (BE), Balice Hertling gallery (FR), Palais de Tokyo (FR), Nathalie Karg gallery (US), Tripode (FR), Clearing gallery (US).
Sophie Giraux (1984, Paris, FR) lives and works in New York. She works on matter, whether it be photographic, video, light or organic, shaping their contrast or opposition. The fine subtlety of her pieces reach a brutal and fierce dimension when the evanescent matter becomes presence, the effects become flesh and light strikes us.
Isauro Huizar (1985, Culiacán, Sinaloa. Lives and works in México City) Trained as an architect and later studied at the Soma Art Program (2015). Recently exhibited in Mexico at Bikini Wax, FIFI Projects, Casa Maauad and internationally at The Galleries at Moore (Philadelphia US), UCSD (La Jolla US), Fondazione Giorgio Cini (Venice IT) and Juste ICI Association (Besançon FR). He works with different media as painting and sculpture and also works site specific, rather than creating new objects, rearranges and recontextualizes what already exists.
Néstor Jiménez (1988, México) is a visual artist graduated from ENPEG, his work has been predominantly focused on video and drawing, resulting in animation, videoistalacion, mono channel video and performance projects. His recent project The Sick Scores consists of the graphic intervention of classical scores based on viral, bacterial and parasitic behaviors and symptoms, as well as specific diseases. He has also developed a series of drawings called “The hangover can also be a horizon” that uses the architectural drawing platform to reflect around memory and the construction of mental images.
Madeline Jiménez Santil (1986, Santo Domingo, Dom. Rep.) lives and works in Mexico City. From 2010–2015 she joined the studio of the Mexican artist Damián Ortega where she collaborated in the coordination and production of projects. Her work has focused on the possible relationships existing in the body/ matter and geometry, in addition to rethinking the condition of the exotic, the strange and migration, always approaching them from the understanding of her own body. She is currently a member of the Soma 20015–2016 educational program.
Magali Lara was born in Mexico City in 1956. She works with graphics and painting but in recent years she has also done animation. He is part of the SOMA academic council and works at the UAEM Faculty of Arts.
Oscar Peters (1981, the Netherlands) is a Dutch artist. He primarily makes kinetic sculptures. Rooted in pop culture the resulting works often find a balance between humor and violence.
Naufus Ramírez-Figueroa (1978, City of Guatemala) earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Emily Carr University, a Master of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and was a graduate researcher at Jan Van Eyck Academie in 2013. Ramírez-Figueroa has participated in various solo and group exhibitions, including the Bienal do Mercosul (2015), Rendez-Vous at the 13 Lyon Biennial (2015); 53rd Oberhausen Internationale Kurzfilmtage; Home Works IV in Ashkal Alwan, Beirut, Lebanon; Illy Present Future 2013 at the Castello di Rivoli, Italy; A History of Interventions at Tate Modern; Drink and Read El Arcoiris at Casa América, Madrid; And recently I create a sculpture installation for the 10th Gwangju Biennial. Ramírez-Figueroa is the recipient of several scholarships and awards, including a Guggenheim scholarship, the Franklin Furnace award, an Akademie Schloss Solitude scholarship, and is a winner of the ARCO Community of Madrid Award for Young Artists in Arco 2015. Ramirez-Figueroa lives and works in Guatemala City.
Nicholas Riis (1987, Copenhagen, Denmark) lives and works in Amsterdam and Oslo, Got his Bachelor in Fine Arts from Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, and did his Master in Fine arts at the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam. He is founder of Kazachenko’s Apartment, a project space located in Oslo since 2013.
Stephen Serrato (1979, Anaheim, California, US) lives and works in Los Angeles, California. He began his independent graphic design practice after his undergraduate studies at the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena in 2005. Stephen received his MFA from the Werkplaats Typografie, Arnhem, Netherlands in 2010. His work has been exhibited internationally and most recently included in the Work from California exhibition at the 25th International Biennial of Graphic Design, Brno, Czech Republic. He works across various media but specializes in design for art and cultural institutions and independent record labels. Stephen is also a Typography instructor at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena.
Pablo Vargas Lugo was born in Mexico City in 1968 and studied Visual Arts at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. His work has been exhibited in more than a hundred individual and group exhibitions in Mexico and abroad. Highlights include his exhibitions at the Tamayo Museum in Mexico City and the Amparo Museum in Puebla (micromegas, 2014), the Echo Experimental Museum in Mexico City (Weather, 2012), the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin, Texas (Eclipses for Austin, 2009) and the Carrillo Gil Museum (Congo Bravo, 1998) in Mexico City. He also participated in the 26th Sao Paulo Biennial (2004), the Cuenca Biennial (2004), and the 5th Mercosur Biennial (2005) as well as in the 3rd San Juan Polygraphic Triennial (2012).
Alexandre Viault (1984, Auxerre, France) graduated in 2010 from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam (NL). He lives and works in Toronto (Canada) at Bruce Mau Design and also is one half of the Paris based creative bureau FiZZZ BZZZZ!
Santiago Villanueva (1990, Azul, Argentina) pursued a master's degree in History of Argentine and Latin American Art at IDAES (University of San Martin). He is part of the management team of the New Energy Museum of Contemporary Art and is curator of the Beautiful Thursday cycle at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires. In 2013 he was awarded a scholarship by the Cisneros Fontanals Foundation to carry out the Argentine Plastic Geography project. Since 2012 he is editor of the Magazine Tradition.
Aline Weyel (1984, Hildrizhausen, Germany) graduated from Gerrit Rietveld Academie with a BA in graphic design in 2010 and from The Royal collage of art in the Hague with a master in artistic research in 2013. Her work revolves around experimentation and research that often takes the shape of a video, photography, performance, installation or a combination of the above. She has exhibited at: de Appel (Amsterdam), W139 (Amsterdam), TETO (Amsterdam), Makeriet (Malmö), Stroom (The Hague), de Bottelarij (Brussels) etc… She has also participated in residencies in Tsarino (Bulgaria) and was nominated for the Rietveld Prize.
Tatyana Zambrano (1982, Medellin, Colombia) is a publicist and a visual artist. She currently lives in Mexico city where she took part in the SOMA educative program (2016). “My favorite movie is Chunking Express, I think of inconsequential connections, as if I’d say: purple and sad is a dry raisin, there are times when I listen to electronic music and I try not to take it seriously because of the advice they gave me.”
