CANICHE IN SPACE consists in applying the editorial concept of CANICHE to an exhibition space, by inviting a curator to interprete a grid inspired by the space, and who in return proposes a narrative through the works of one or several artists that she/he invites to exhibit.
For the first edition, curator EVA POSAS proposed a show titled UNBUILDING STORIES, which opened on MARCH 21st 2019 in Casa de Francia in Mexico City.
UNBUILDING STORIES presented works of Jaakko Pallasvuo, Lorena Ancona, Gabriel Rosas Aleman, Maria Vez, Ceel Mogami de Haas and Antoine Marchalot.
Through different kinds of practices, the artists would share a RETICULAR SENSE of composition and in some cases, evident steps towards the graphic novel for the exploration of topics such as dreams, the future, the MAYAN CODICES, the body, the domestic space, everyday life and the anxiety of living today.
CANICHE IN SPACE: Unbuilding Stories was produced thanks to the French Embassy in Mexico, the IFAL and the CASA DE FRANCIA in Mexico City.
